Narrated Abdullah Ibn Abbas: Women who are divorced shall wait; keeping themselves apart; three monthly courses; and then said: And for such of your women as despair of menstruation; if ye doubt; their period of waiting shall be three months. Hammad said: [Ayub] designated him; that is to say Amr. [The man] said: Yes; Oh Aba Bakr. Indeed he came to us with strange things [i.e. reports].
