One-day I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ saying; Who will spread his Rida a garment covering the upper part of the body till I finished my speech and then fold it; i.e. wrap it over your body ; in which case he will never forget anything he had heard from me. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3095Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: There was a Jew in Medina who used to lend me money up to the season of plucking dates. Jabir had a piece of land which was on the way to Ruma. That year the land was not promising; so the payment of the debt was delayed one year. The Jew came to me at the time of plucking; but gathered nothing from my land. I asked him to give me one year respite; but he refused. This news reached the Prophet ﷺ whereupon he said to his companions; Let us go and ask the Jew for respite for Jabir. All of them came to me in my garden; and the Prophet ﷺ started speaking to the Jew; but he Jew said; O Abu Qasim! I will not grant him respite. When the Prophet ﷺ saw the Jew attitude; he stood up and walked all around the garden and came again and talked to the Jew; but the Jew refused his request. I got up and brought some ripe fresh dates and put it in front of the Prophet. He ate and then said to me; Where is your hut; O Jabir? I informed him; and he said; Spread out a bed for me in it. I spread out a bed; and he entered and slept. When he woke up; I brought some dates to him again and he ate of it and then got up and talked to the Jew again; but the Jew again refused his request. Then the Prophet ﷺ got up for the second time amidst the palm trees loaded with fresh dates; and said; O Jabir! Pluck dates to repay your debt. The Jew remained with me while I was plucking the dates; till I paid him all his right; yet there remained extra quantity of dates. So; I used to be present while they i.e. the emigrants and the Ansar were absent; and I used to remember while they forgot the Hadith. One day the Prophet ﷺ said; Whoever spreads his sheet till I finish this statement of mine and then gathers it on his chest; will never forget anything of my statement. So; I spread my covering sheet which was the only garment I had; till the Prophet ﷺ finished his statement and then I gathered it over my chest. By Him Who had sent him i.e. Allah Apostle with the truth; since then I did not forget even a single word of that statement of his; until this day of mine. By Allah; but for two verses in Allah Book; I would never have related any narration from the Prophet. These two verses are : Verily! No doubt; Allah Messenger ﷺ once said; Whoever spreads his garment till I have finished my present speech and then gathers it to himself; will remember whatever I will say. So; I spread my colored garment which I was wearing till Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished his saying; and then I gathered it to my chest. He further reported that Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who spreads the cloth would not forget anything that he would hear from me. I spread my cloth until he narrated something. SahihMuslim-017-001-20809Ibn Shihab transmitted on the authority of Ibn Mousayib that Abu Huraira said: People say that Abu Huraira transmits so many ahadith; whereas Allah is the Reckoner; and they say: How is it with Muhajirs and the Ansar that they do not narrate ahadith like him like Abu Huraira ? Abu Huraira said: I tell you that my brothers from Ansar remained busy with their lands and my brothers Muhajirs were busy in transactions in the bazars; but I always kept myself attached to Allah Messenger ﷺ with bare subsistence. I remained present in the company of the Holy Prophet ; whereas they had been absent. I retained in my mind what the Prophet said ; whereas they forgot it. One day Allah Messenger ﷺ said: He who amongst you spreads the cloth and listens to my talk and would then press it against his chest would never forget anything heard from me. So I spread my mantle and when he had concluded his talk I then pressed it against my chest and so I never forgot after that day anything that he the Holy Prophet said. Anas said: The sky was like a mirror there was no cloud. Then the wind rose; a cloud appeared in the sky and it spread : the sky poured down the water. We came out from the Masjid after the prayer passing through the water till we reached our homes. The rain continued till the following Friday. The same or some other person stood up and said: Messenger of Allah; the houses have been demolished; pray to Allah to stop it. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ smiled and said: O Allah ; the rain may fall around us but not upon us. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-25970Narrated AlBara Ibn Azib: We went out with the Messenger of Allah ﷺ accompanying the bier of a man of the Ansar. When we reached his grave; it was not yet dug. So the Messenger of Allah ﷺ sat down and we also sat down around him as if birds were over our heads. He had in his hand a stick with which he was scratching the ground. He then raised his head and said: Seek refuge with Allah from the punishment in the grave. He said it twice or thrice. The version of Jabir adds here: He hears the beat of their sandals when they go back; and at that moment he is asked: O so and so! Who is your Lord; what is your religion; and who is your Prophet? Hannad version says: Two angels will come to him; make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: My Lord is Allah. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: My religion is Islam. They will ask him: What is your opinion about the man who was sent on a mission among you? He will reply: He is the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. They will ask: Who made you aware of this? He will reply: I read Allah Book; believed in it; and considered it true; which is verified by Allah words: Allah Book; believed in it; and considered it true; which is verified by Allah words: Allah establishes those who believe with the word that stands firm in this world and the next. The agreed version reads: Then a crier will call from Heaven: My servant has spoken the truth; so spread a bed for him from Paradise; clothe him from Paradise; and open a door for him into Paradise. So some of its air and perfume will come to him; and a space will be made for him as far as the eye can see. He also mentioned the death of the infidel; saying: His spirit will be restored to his body; two angels will come to him; make him sit up and ask him: Who is your Lord? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. They will ask him: What is your religion? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. They will ask: Who was the man who was sent on a mission among you? He will reply: Alas; alas! I do not know. Then a crier will call from Heaven: He has lied; so spread a bed for him from Hell; clothe him from Hell; and open for him a door into Hell. Then some of its heat and pestilential wind will come to him; and his grave will be compressed; so that his ribs will be crushed together. Jabir version adds: One who is blind and dumb will then be placed in charge of him; having a sledge-hammer such that if a mountain were struck with it; it would become dust. He will give him a blow with it which will be heard by everything between the east and the west except by men and jinn; and he will become dust.
