SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1280Narrated Aisha: the wife of the Prophet Utba Bin Abi Waqqas said to his brother Saad Bin Abi Waqqas; The son of the slave girl of Zama is from me; so take him into your custody. So in the year of Conquest of Mecca; Saad took him and said. This is my brother son whom my brother has asked me to take into my custody. Abd Bin Zama got up before him and said; He is my brother and the son of the slave girl of my father; and was born on my father bed. So they both submitted their case before Allah Apostle. Saad said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This boy is the son of my brother and he entrusted him to me. Abd Bin Zama said; This boy is my brother and the son of the slave girl of my father; and was born on the bed of my father. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; The boy is for you; O Abd Bin Zama! Then Allah Apostle further said; The child is for the owner of the bed; and the stone is for the adulterer; He then said to Sauda bint Zama; Veil screen yourself before him; when he saw the child resemblance to Utba. The boy did not see her again till he met Allah. The Chapter on Sons And Children in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on Whoever is given the right of his brother through a judicial decision in Sahih AlBukhari

This is the son of my brother and he told me to be his custodian. Then Abu Bin Zama said; But he is my brother and the son of the slave girl of my father; born on his bed. The Prophet ﷺ said; This child is for you. O Abu Bin Zama; as the child is for the owner of the bed; and the adulterer receives the stones. My daughter is dying; please come to us. The Prophet ﷺ sent her his greetings and added It is for Allah what He takes; and what He gives; and everything before His sight has a limited period. So she should hope for Allah reward and remain patient. She again sent a message; beseeching him by Allah; to come. So the Prophet ﷺ got up. and so did we and went there. The child was placed on his lap while his breath was irregular. Tears flowed from the eyes of the Prophet. Saad said to him; What is this; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ? He said. Abdulrahman said; May Allah bless your family and property for you; where is your market? So they showed him the Qainuqa market. He went there and returned with a profit in the form of dried yogurt and butter. He continued going to the market till one day he came; bearing the traces of yellow scent. The Prophet ﷺ asked; What is this scent ? He replied; I got married. The Prophet ﷺ asked; How much Mahr did you give her? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-3976Narrated Abdullah Bin Masud: Saad Bin Muadh came to Mecca with the intention of performing Umra; and stayed at the house of Umaiya Bin Khalaf Abi Safwan; for Umaiya himself used to stay at Saad house when he passed by Medina on his way to Sham. Umaiya said to Sad; Will you wait till midday when the people are at their homes ; then you may go and perform the Tawaf round the Kaba? So; while Saad was going around the Kaba; Abu Jahl came and asked; Who is that who is performing Tawaf? Saad replied; I am Sad. Abu Jahl said; Are you circumambulating the Kaba safely although you have given refuge to Muhammad and his companions? Saad said; Yes; and they started quarreling. Umaiya said to Sad; Dont shout at Abi AlHakam i.e. Abu Jahl ; for he is chief of the valley of Mecca. Saad then said to Abu Jahl. By Allah; if you prevent me from performing the Tawaf of the Kaba; I will spoil your trade with Sham. Umaiya kept on saying to Sad; Dont raise your voice. and kept on taking hold of him. Saad became furious and said; to Umaiya ; Be away from me; for I have heard Muhammad saying that he will kill you. Umaiiya said; Will he kill me? Saad said; Yes;. Umaiya said; By Allah! When Muhammad says a thing; he never tells a lie. Umaiya went to his wife and said to her; Do you know what my brother from Yathrib i.e. Medina has said to me? She said; What has he said? He said; He claims that he has heard Muhammad claiming that he will kill me. She said; By Allah! Muhammad never tells a lie. So when the infidels started to proceed for Badr Battle and declared war against the Muslims ; his wife said to him; Dont you remember what your brother from Yathrib told you? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4059Narrated Saad Bin Abu Waqqas: The Prophet ﷺ came visiting me while I was sick in Mecca; Amir the sub-narrator said; and he disliked to die in the land; whence he had already migrated. He i.e. the Prophet said; May Allah bestow His Mercy on Ibn Afra Saad Bin Khaula. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! May I will all my property in charity ? He said; No. I said; Then may I will half of it? He said; No. I said; One third? He said: Yes; one third; yet even one third is too much. It is better for you to leave your inheritors wealthy than to leave them poor begging others; and whatever you spend for Allah sake will be considered as a charitable deed even the handful of food you put in your wife mouth. AlMiswar said; By Allah; you shall buy them. Saad replied; By Allah; I will not pay more than four thousand Dirhams by installments. Abu Rafi said; I have been offered five hundred Dinars for it and had I not heard the Prophet ﷺ saying; The neighbor has more right than anyone else because of his nearness; I would not give them to you for four-thousand Dirhams while I am offered five-hundred Dinars one Dinar equals ten Dirhams for them. When Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived at Medina; Saad went to perform Umra and stayed at Umaiya home in Mecca. He said to Umaiya; Tell me of a time when the Masjid is empty so that I may be able to perform Tawaf around the Kaba. So Umaiya went with him about midday. Abu Jahl met them and said; O Abu Safwan! Who is this man accompanying you? He said; He is Sad. Abu Jahl addressed Saad saying; I see you wandering about safely in Mecca inspite of the fact that you have given shelter to the people who have changed their religion i.e. became Muslims and have claimed that you will help them and support them. By Allah; if you were not in the company of Abu Safwan; you would not be able to go your family safely. Sad; raising his voice; said to him; By Allah; if you should stop me from doing this i.e. performing Tawaf I would certainly prevent you from something which is more valuable for you; that is; your passage through Medina. On this; Umaiya said to him; O Saad do not raise your voice before Abu AlHakam; the chief of the people of the Valley of Mecca. Saad said; O Umaiya; stop that! By Allah; I have heard Allah Messenger ﷺ predicting that the Muslim will kill you. Umaiya asked; In Mecca? Saad said; I do not know. Umaiya was greatly scared by that news. When Umaiya returned to his family; he said to his wife; O Um Safwan! Dont you know what Saad told me? She said; What has he told you? He replied; He claims that Muhammad has informed them i.e. companions that they will kill me. I asked him; In Mecca? He replied; I do not know. Then Umaiya added; By Allah; I will never go out of Mecca. But when the day of the Ghazwa of Badr came; Abu Jahl called the people to war; saying; Go and protect your caravan. But Umaiya disliked to go out of Mecca. Abu Jahl came to him and said; O Abu Safwan! If the people see you staying behind though you are the chief of the people of the Valley; then they will remain behind with you. Abu Jahl kept on urging him to go until he i.e. Umaiya said; As you have forced me to change my mind; by Allah; I will buy the best camel in Mecca. Then Umaiya said to his wife. O Um Safwan; prepare what I need for the journey. She said to him; O Abu Safwan! Have you forgotten what your Yathribi brother told you? He said; No; but I do not want to go with them but for a short distance. So when Umaiya went out; he used to tie his camel wherever he camped. The man was Hibban Bin Qais from the tribe of Bani Mais Bin Amir Bin Louai who shot an arrow at Saad medial arm vein or main artery of the arm. By Allah; I have not laid them down. Go out to them to attack them. The Prophet ﷺ said; Where? Gabriel pointed towards Bani Quraidha. So Allah Messenger ﷺ went to them i.e. Banu Quraidha i.e. besieged them. They then surrendered to the Prophet judgment but he directed them to Saad to give his verdict concerning them. Saad said; I give my judgment that their warriors should be killed; their women and children should be taken as captives; and their properties distributed. And if there still remains any fight with the Quraish infidels ; then keep me alive till I fight against them for Your Sake. But if you have brought the war to an end; then let this wound burst and cause my death thereby. So blood gushed from the wound. There was a tent in the Masjid belonging to Banu Ghifar who were surprised by the blood flowing towards them. They said; O people of the tent! What is this thing which is coming to us from your side? He said: No. He Sad said: Then one-third? Thereupon he the Holy Prophet said: Yes ; one-third; and one-third is quite substanial. And what you spend as charity from your property is Sadaqa and flour spending on your family is also Sadaqa; and what your wife eats from your property is also Sadaqa; and that you leave your heirs well off or he said: prospreous is better than to leave them poor and begging from people. I caught hold of a man and he said: There is no god but Allah; I attacked him with a spear. It once occurred to me and I talked about it to the Apostle ﷺ. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Did he profess There is no god but Allah; and even then you killed him? I said: Messenger of Allah; he made a profession of it out of the fear of the weapon. He the Holy Prophet observed: Did you tear his heart in order to find out whether it had professed or not? And he went on repeating it to me till I wished I had embraced Islam that day. Saad said: By Allah; I would never kill any Muslim so long as a person with a heavy belly; i. e.; Usama; would not kill. Upon this a person remarked: Did Allah not say this: And fight them until there is no more mischief and religion is wholly for Allah? Saad came to him Thabit ; and conveyed to him the message of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ. Upon this Thabit said: This verse was revealed; and you are well aware of the fact that; amongst all of you; mine is the voice louder than that of the Messenger of Allah; and so I am one amongst the denizens of Fire; Saad Informed the Prophet about it. I kept quiet for some time but I was again impelled to express what I knew about him. I said: Messenger of Allah why is it that you did not give it to such and such? Verily; by Allah; see him a believer. Upon this the Messenger of Allah ﷺ remarked: Nay; not a believer but a Muslim. I said to him: From whom did you hear it ? They said: Amir Bin Saad has narrated it. So I came to him. They said that he was not present there. So I met his brother Ibrahim Bin Saad and asked him. He said: I bear testimony to the fact that Usama narrated it to Saad saying: I heard Allah Messenger ﷺ as saying that it is a God-sent punishment from the calamity or from the remnant of the calamity with which people were afflicted before you. So when it is in a land and you are there; dont get out of it; and if this news reaches you that it has broken out in a land; then dont enter therein. SahihMuslim-017-001-20647mousab Bin Saad reported on the authority of his father that many verses of the Quran had been revealed in connection with him. His mother Umm Saad had taken oath that she would never talk with him until he abandoned his faith and she neither ate nor drank and said: Allah has commanded you to treat well your parents and I am your mother and I command you to do this. She passed three days in this state until she fainted because of extreme hunger and at that time her son whose name was Umara stood up and served her drink and she began to curse Saad that Allah; the Exalted and Glorions; revealed these verses of the Holy Quran: And We have enjoined upon a person goodness to his parents but if they contend with thee to associate others with Me of which you have no knowledge; then obey them not xxix. 8 ; Treat thein with customary good in this world xxxi. 15. He also reported that there fell to the lot of Allah Messenger ﷺ huge spoils of war and there was one sword in them. I picked that up and came to Allah Messenger ﷺ and said: Bestow this sword upon me as my share in the spoils of war and you know my state. Thereupon he said: Return it to the place from where you picked it up. I went back until I decided to throw it in a store but my soul repulsed me so I came back and asked him to give that sword to me. He said in a loud voice to return it to the place from where I had picked it up. It was on this occasion that this verse was revealed: They asked about the spoils of war viii. 1. He further said: I once fell ill and sent a message to Allah Apostle ﷺ. He visited me and I said to him: Permit me to distribute in charity my property as much as I like. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute half of it. He did not agree. I said: Permit me to distribute the third part; whereupon he kept quiet and it was after this that the distribution of one property in charity to the extent of one-third was held valid. He further said: I came to a group of persons of the Ansir and Muhajirin and they said: Come; so that we may serve you wine; and it was before the use of wine had been prohibited. I went to them in a garden and there had been with them the roasted head of a camel and a small water-skin containing wine.
