But among them was a man called Dhu AlYadain who said: Messenger of Allah; has the prayer been shortened or have you forgotten? The Apostle of Allah ﷺ looked to the right and left and said: What was Dhu AlYadain saying? They said: He is right. You the Holy Prophet offered but two rakahs. 4. Narrated Abdullah Ibn Amr: The Prophet ﷺ said: There are two qualities or characteristics which will not be returned by any Muslim without his entering Paradise. While they are easy; those who act upon them are few. One should say: Glory be to Allah ten times after every prayer; Praise be to Allah ten times and Allah is Most Great ten times. That is a hundred and fifty on the tongue; but one thousand and five hundred on the scale. When he goes to bed; he should say: Allah is Most Great thirty-four times; Praise be to Allah thirty-three times; and Glory be to Allah thirty-three times; for that is a hundred on the tongue and a thousand on the scale. He said: I saw the Messenger of Allah ﷺ counting them on his hand. The people asked: Messenger of Allah! How is it that while they are easy; those who act upon them are few? He replied: The Devil comes to one of you when he goes to bed and he makes him sleep; before he utters them; and he comes to him while he is engaged in prayer and calls a need to his mind before he utters them. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27008
  5. Narrated Aisha: When the Prophet; became ill in his fatal illness; Someone came to inform him about the prayer; and the Prophet ﷺ told him to tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in the prayer. I said; Abu Bakr is a softhearted man and if he stands for the prayer in your place; he would weep and would not be able to recite the Quran. The Prophet ﷺ said; Tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer. I said the same as before. He repeated the same order and on the third or the fourth time he said; You are the companions of Joseph. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the prayer. So Abu Bakr led the prayer and meanwhile the Prophet ﷺ felt better and came out with the help of two men; as if I see him just now dragging his feet on the ground. When Abu Bakr saw him; he tried to retreat but the Prophet ﷺ beckoned him to carry on. Abu Bakr retreated a bit and the Prophet ﷺ sat on his left side. Abu Bakr was repeating the Takbir Allahu Akbar of Allah Messenger ﷺ for the people to hear. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-680
  6. Abu Huraira reported the Messenger of Allah ﷺ as saying : The young should salute the old; the one who is passing by should salute the one who is sitting; and a small company should salute a large one. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27141
  7. Narrated Ikrima: I saw a person praying at Muqam-Ibrahim the place of Abraham by the Kaba and he was saying Takbir on every bowing; rising; standing and sitting. I asked Ibn Abbas about this prayer. He admonished me saying: Isnt that the prayer of the Prophet? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-755
  8. Jabir reported: The Messenger of Allah ﷺ was ill and we said prayer behind him and he was sitting. And Abu Bakr was making audible to the people his takbir. As he paid his attention towards us he saw us standing and directed us to sit down with a gesture. So we sat down and said our prayer with his prayer in a sitting posture. After uttering salutation he said: You were at this time about to do an act like that of the Persians and the Romans. They stand before their kings while they sit; so dont do that; follow your Imams. If they say prayer standing; you should also do so; and if they say prayer sitting; you should also say prayer sitting. SahihMuslim-017-001-23399
  9. Narrated Ali Ibn Abu Talib: Abu Dawud said: AlHasan Ibn Ali traced this tradition back to the Prophet ﷺ : When people are passing by; it is enough if one of them gives a salutation on their behalf; and that it is enough for those who are sitting if one of them replies. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-27153
