Most ungrateful is man! |

Then although there came to them Our messengers with clear signs, yet, even after that, many of them continued to commit excesses in the land. |

'If any do reject Faith after this, they are rebellious and wicked. |

Truly it is not their eyes that are blind, but their hearts which are in their breasts. |

Is it thy intention to slay me as thou slewest a man yesterday? Thy intention is none other than to become a powerful violent man in the land, and not to be one who sets things right!" |

What! did they not see that Allah, Who created them, was superior to them in strength? But they continued to reject Our Signs! |

Now are they but looking for the way the ancients were dealt with? But no change wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing): no turning off wilt thou find in Allah's way (of dealing). |

The leader among them said: "Know ye not that your father did take an oath from you in Allah's name, and how, before this, ye did fail in your duty with Joseph? Therefore will I not leave this land until my father permits me, or Allah commands me; and He is the best to command. |
