SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6360Narrated Abdullah Bin Umar: Umar Bin AlKhattab said; When my daughter Hafsa bint Umar lost her husband Khunais Bin Hudhaifa AlSahrni who was one of the companions of Allah Messenger ﷺ and had fought in the battle of Badr and had died in Medina; I met Uthman Bin Affan and suggested that he should marry Hafsa saying; If you wish; I will marry Hafsa bint Umar to you; on that; he said; I will think it over. I waited for a few days and then he said to me. I am of the opinion that I shall not marry at present. Then I met Abu Bakr and said; if you wish; I will marry you; Hafsa bint Umar. He kept quiet and did not give me any reply and I became more angry with him than I was with Uthman. Some days later; Allah Messenger ﷺ demanded her hand in marriage and I married her to him. Later on Abu Bakr met me and said; Perhaps you were angry with me when you offered me Hafsa for marriage and I gave no reply to you? I said; Yes. Abu Bakr said; Nothing prevented me from accepting your offer except that I learnt that Allah Messenger ﷺ had referred to the issue of Hafsa and I did not want to disclose the secret of Allah Messenger ﷺ ; but had he i.e. the Prophet given her up I would surely have accepted her.The Chapter on Hour And Ayoub in HodHood Indexing, The Book of Military Expeditions led by the Prophet AlMaghaazi in Sahih AlBukhari
SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6456Narrated Ikrima Bin Khalid: Ibn Umar said; I went to Hafsa while water was dribbling from her twined braids. I said; The condition of the people is as you see; and no authority has been given to me. Hafsa said; to me ; Go to them; and as they i.e. the people are waiting for you; and I am afraid your absence from them will produce division amongst them. So Hafsa did not leave Ibn Umar till we went to them. When the people differed. Muawiya addressed the people saying; If anybody wants to say anything in this matter of the Caliphate; he should show up and not conceal himself; for we are more rightful to be a Caliph than he and his father. On that; Habib Bin Masalama said to Ibn Umar ; Why dont you reply to him i.e. Muawiya ? Abdullah Bin Umar said; I untied my garment that was going round my back and legs while I was sitting and was about to say; He who fought against you and against your father for the sake of Islam; is more rightful to be a Caliph; but I was afraid that my statement might produce differences amongst the people and cause bloodshed; and my statement might be interpreted not as I intended. So I kept quiet remembering what Allah has prepared in the Gardens of Paradise for those who are patient and prefer the Hereafter to this worldly life. Habib said; You did what kept you safe and secure i.e. you were wise in doing so.The Chapter on Life And Death And Dyeing in HodHood Indexing, Chapter on The Ghazwa of AlKhandaq or AlAhzab Battle in Sahih AlBukhari

SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6572Narrated Abu Mousa: The news of the migration of the Prophet from Mecca to Medina reached us while we were in Yemen. So we set out as emigrants towards him. We were three I and my two brothers. I was the youngest of them; and one of the two was Abu Burda; and the other; Abu Ruhm; and our total number was either 53 or 52 men from my people. We got on board a boat and our boat took us to Negus in Ethiopia. There we met Jafar Bin Abi Talib and stayed with him. Then we all came to Medina and met the Prophet ﷺ at the time of the conquest of Khaibar. Some of the people used to say to us; namely the people of the ship; We have migrated before you. Asma bint Umais who was one of those who had come with us; came as a visitor to Hafsa; the wife the Prophet ﷺ. She had migrated along with those other Muslims who migrated to Negus. Umar came to Hafsa while Asma bint Umais was with her. Umar; on seeing Asma; said; Who is this? She said; Asma bint Umais; Umar said; Is she the Ethiopian? Is she the sea-faring lady? Asma replied; Yes. Umar said; We have migrated before you people of the boat ; so we have got more right than you over Allah Messenger ﷺ On that Asma became angry and said; No; by Allah; while you were with Allah Messenger ﷺ who was feeding the hungry ones amongst you; and advised the ignorant ones amongst you; we were in the far-off hated land of Ethiopia; and all that was for the sake of Allah Messenger ﷺ. By Allah; I will neither eat any food nor drink anything till I inform Allah Messenger ﷺ of all that you have said. There we were harmed and frightened. I said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Abu Bakr is a softhearted man and if he stands in your place; he would not be able to make the people hear him. Will you order Umar to lead the prayer ? The Prophet ﷺ said; Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in the prayer. Then I said to Hafsa; Tell him; Abu i Bakr is a softhearted man and if he stands in his place; he would not be able to make the people hear him. Would you order Umar to lead the prayer? Hafsa did so. The Prophet ﷺ said; Verily you are the companions of Joseph. Tell Abu Bakr to lead the people in the prayer. So Abu Bakr stood for the prayer. In the meantime Allah Messenger ﷺ felt better and came out with the help of two persons and both of his legs were dragging on the ground till he entered the Masjid. When Abu Bakr heard him coming; he tried to retreat but Allah Messenger ﷺ beckoned him to carry on. The Prophet ﷺ sat on his left side. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-7224Narrated Ibn Abbas: For the whole year I had the desire to ask Umar Bin AlKhattab regarding the explanation of a Verse in Surat AlTahrim but I could not ask him because I respected him very much. When he went to perform the Hajj; I too went along with him. On our return; while we were still on the way home. Umar went Aasi de to answer the call of nature by the Arak trees. I waited till he finished and then I proceeded with him and asked him. O chief of the Believers! Who were the two wives of the Prophet ﷺ who aided one another against him? He said; They were Hafsa and Aisha. Then I said to him; By Allah; I wanted to ask you about this a year ago; but I could not do so owing to my respect for you. Umar said; Do not refrain from asking me. If you think that I have knowledge about a certain matter ; ask me; and if I know something about it ; I will tell you. Then Umar added; By Allah; in the Pre-lslamic Period of Ignorance we did not pay attention to women until Allah revealed regarding them what He revealed regarding them and assigned for them what He has assigned. Once while I was thinking over a certain matter; my wife said; I recommend that you do so-and-so. I said to her; What have you got to do with the is matter? Why do you poke your nose in a matter which I want to see fulfilled.? She said; How strange you are; O son of AlKhattab! You dont want to be argued with whereas your daughter; Hafsa surely; argues with Allah Messenger ﷺ so much that he remains angry for a full day! Umar then reported; how he at once put on his outer garment and went to Hafsa and said to her; O my daughter! Do you argue with Allah Messenger ﷺ so that he remains angry the whole day? H. afsa said; By Allah; we argue with him. Umar said; Know that I warn you of Allah punishment and the anger of Allah Messenger ﷺ... O my daughter! Dont be betrayed by the one who is proud of her beauty because of the love of Allah Messenger ﷺ for her i.e. Aisha. Umar addled; Then I went out to Umm Salamah house who was one of my relatives; and I talked to her. She said; O son of AlKhattab! It is rather astonishing that you interfere in everything; you even want to interfere between Allah Apostle and his wives! By Allah; by her talk she influenced me so much that I lost some of my anger. I left her and went home. At that time I had a friend from the Ansar who used to bring news from the Prophet in case of my absence; and I used to bring him the news if he was absent. In those days we were afraid of one of the kings of Ghassan tribe. We heard that he intended to move and attack us; so fear filled our hearts because of that. One day my Ansari friend unexpectedly knocked at my door; and said; Open Open! I said; Has the king of Ghassan come? He said; No; but something worse; Allah Messenger ﷺ has isolated himself from his wives. I said; Let the nose of Aisha and Hafsa be stuck to dust i.e. humiliated ! Then I put on my clothes and went to Allah Messenger ﷺ residence; and behold; he was staying in an upper room of his to which he ascended by a ladder; and a black slave of Allah Messenger ﷺ was sitting on the first step. I said to him; Say to the Prophet ﷺ Umar Bin AlKhattab is here. Then the Prophet ﷺ admitted me and I narrated the story to Allah Messenger ﷺ. When I reached the story of Umm Salamah ; Allah Messenger ﷺ smiled while he was lying on a mat made of palm tree leaves with nothing between him and the mat. Underneath his head there was a leather pillow stuffed with palm fibres; and leaves of a saut tree were piled at his feet; and above his head hung a few water skins. On seeing the marks of the mat imprinted on his side; I wept. He said. Why are you weeping? I replied; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Caesar and Khosrau are leading the life i.e. Luxurious life while you; Allah Messenger ﷺ though you are; is living in destitute. The Prophet ﷺ then replied.
