SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4294Narrated Malik Bin Sasaa: The Prophet ﷺ said; While I was at the House in a state midway between sleep and wakefulness; an angel recognized me as the man lying between two men. A golden tray full of wisdom and belief was brought to me and my body was cut open from the throat to the lower part of the Abdomen and then my Abdomen was washed with Zamzam water and my heart was filled with wisdom and belief. AlBuraq; a white animal; smaller than a mule and bigger than a donkey was brought to me and I set out with Gabriel. When I reached the nearest heaven. Gabriel said to the heaven gate-keeper; Open the gate. The gatekeeper asked; Who is it? He said; Gabriel. The gate-keeper; Who is accompanying you? Gabriel said; Muhammad. The gate-keeper said; Has he been called? Gabriel said; Yes. Then it was said; He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is! Then I met Adam and greeted him and he said; You are welcomed O son and a Prophet. Then we ascended to the second heaven. It was asked; Who is it? Gabriel said; Gabriel. It was said; Who is with you? He said; Muhammad It was asked; Has he been sent for? He said; Yes. It was said; He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is! Then I met Jesus and Yahya John who said; You are welcomed; O brother and a Prophet. Then we ascended to the third heaven. It was asked; Who is it? Gabriel said; Gabriel. It was asked; Who is with you? Gabriel said; Muhammad. It was asked; Has he been sent for? Yes; said Gabriel. He is welcomed. What a wonderful visit his is! The Prophet ﷺ added:. There I met Joseph and greeted him; and he replied; You are welcomed; O brother and a Prophet! Then we ascended to the 4th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met Idris and greeted him. He said; You are welcomed O brother and Prophet. Then we ascended to the 5th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in previous heavens. there I met and greeted Aaron who said; You are welcomed O brother and a Prophet. Then we ascended to the 6th heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Moses who said; You are welcomed O brother and. a Prophet. When I proceeded on; he started weeping and on being asked why he was weeping; he said; O Lord! Followers of this youth who was sent after me will enter Paradise in greater number than my followers. Then we ascended to the seventh heaven and again the same questions and answers were exchanged as in the previous heavens. There I met and greeted Abraham who said; You are welcomed o son and a Prophet. Then I was shown AlBait AlMamur i.e. Allah House. I asked Gabriel about it and he said; This is AlBait AlMamur where 70;000 angels perform prayers daily and when they leave they never return to it but always a fresh batch comes into it daily. Then I was shown Sidrat AlMuntaha i.e. a tree in the seventh heaven and I saw its Nabk fruits which resembled the clay jugs of Hajr i.e. a town in Arabia ; and its leaves were like the ears of elephants; and four rivers originated at its root; two of them were apparent and two were hidden. I asked Gabriel about those rivers and he said; The two hidden rivers are in Paradise; and the apparent ones are the Nile and the Euphrates. Then fifty prayers were enjoined on me. I descended till I met Moses who asked me; What have you done? I said; Fifty prayers have been enjoined on me. He said; I know the people better than you; because I had the hardest experience to bring Bani Israel to obedience. Your followers cannot put up with such obligation. So; return to your Lord and request Him to reduce the number of prayers. I returned and requested Allah for reduction and He made it forty. I returned and met Moses and had a similar discussion; and then returned again to Allah for reduction and He made it thirty; then twenty; then ten; and then I came to Moses who repeated the same advice. Ultimately Allah reduced it to five. When I came to Moses again; he said; What have you done? I said; Allah has made it five only. Saad said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! My brother; before his death; told me that when I would return to Mecca ; I should search for the son of the slave-girl of Zama and take him into my custody as he was his son. Abu Bin Zama said; the is my brother and the son of the slave-girl of my father; and was born or my father bed. The Prophet ﷺ noticed a resemblance between Utba and the boy but he said; O Abu Bin Zama! You will get this boy; as the son goes to the owner of the bed. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4874Narrated AlBara: When the Prophet ﷺ intended to perform Umra in the month of Dh AlQada; the people of Mecca did not let him enter Mecca till he settled the matter with them by promising to stay in it for three days only. When the document of treaty was written; the following was mentioned: These are the terms on which Muhammad; Allah Messenger ﷺ agreed to make peace. They said; We will not agree to this; for if we believed that you are Allah Messenger ﷺ we would not prevent you; but you are Muhammad Bin Abdullah. The Prophet ﷺ said; I am Allah Messenger ﷺ and also Muhammad Bin Abdullah. Then he said to Ali; Rub off the words Allah Messenger ﷺ ; but Ali said; No; by Allah; I will never rub off your name. So; Allah Messenger ﷺ took the document and wrote; This is what Muhammad Bin Abdullah has agreed upon: No arms will be brought into Mecca except in their cases; and nobody from the people of Mecca will be allowed to go with him i.e. the Prophet ﷺ even if he wished to follow him and he the Prophet ﷺ will not prevent any of his companions from staying in Mecca if the latter wants to stay. When the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca and the time limit passed; the Meccans went to Ali and said; Tell your Friend i.e. the Prophet ﷺ to go out; as the period agreed to has passed. So; the Prophet ﷺ went out of Mecca. The daughter of Hamza ran after them i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and his companions ; calling; O Uncle! O Uncle! Ali received her and led her by the hand and said to Fatima; Take your uncle daughter. Zaid and Jafar quarreled about her. Ali said; I have more right to her as she is my uncle daughter. Jafar said; She is my uncle daughter; and her aunt is my wife. Zaid said; She is my brother daughter. The Prophet ﷺ judged that she should be given to her aunt; and said that the aunt was like the mother. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-4911Narrated Aisha: Utba Bin Abi Waqqas authorized his brother Saad Bin Abi Waqqas to take the son of the slave-girl of Zama into his custody; telling him that the boy was his own illegal son. When Allah Messenger ﷺ went to Mecca at the time of the Conquest; Saad took the son of the slave-girl of Zama to Allah Messenger ﷺ and also brought Abu Bin Zama with him and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is the son of my brother Utba who authorized me to take him into my custody. Abu Bin Zama said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He is my brother; the son of Zama slave-girl and he was born on his bed. Allah Messenger ﷺ looked at the son of the slave-girl of Zama and noticed much resemblance to Utba. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; It is for you; O Abu Bin Zama as he was born on the bed of your father. My emigrant brothers were busy in the market while I used to stick to Allah Messenger ﷺ content with what fills my stomach; so I used to be present when they were absent and I used to remember when they used to forget; and my Ansari brothers used to be busy with their properties and I was one of the poor men of Suffa. I used to remember the narrations when they used to forget. No doubt; Allah Messenger ﷺ once said; Whoever spreads his garment till I have finished my present speech and then gathers it to himself; will remember whatever I will say. So; I spread my colored garment which I was wearing till Allah Messenger ﷺ had finished his saying; and then I gathered it to my chest. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5329Narrated Aisha: Utba Bin Abu Waqqas took a firm promise from his brother Saad Bin Abu Waqqas to take the son of the slave-girl of Zama into his custody as he was his i.e. Utbas son. In the year of the Conquest of Mecca Saad Bin Abu Waqqas took him; and said that he was his brother son; and his brother took a promise from him to that effect. Abu Bin Zama got up and said; He is my brother and the son of the slave-girl of my father and was born on my father bed. Then they both went to the Prophet ﷺ Saad said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! He is the son of my brother and he has taken a promise from me that I will take him. Abu Bin Zama said; He is my brother and the son of my father slave-girl and was born on my father bed. Allah Messenger ﷺ said; The boy is for you. O Abu Bin Zama. Then the Prophet ﷺ said; The son is for the bed i.e. the man on whose bed he was born and stones disappointment and deprivation for the one who has done illegal sexual intercourse. The Prophet ﷺ told his wife Sauda bint Zama to screen herself from that boy as he noticed a similarity between the boy and Utba. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5487Narrated Aisha: Saad Bin Abi Waqqas and Abu Bin Zama quarreled over a boy. Saad said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This boy is the son of my brother Utba Bin Abi Waqqas who took a promise from me that I would take him as he was his illegal son. Look at him and see whom he resembles. Abu Bin Zama said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is my brother and was born on my father bed from his slave-girl. Allah Apostle cast a look at the boy and found definite resemblance to Utba and then said; The boy is for you; O Abu Bin Zama. The child goes to the owner of the bed and the adulterer gets nothing but the stones despair; i.e. to be stoned to death. Then the Prophet ﷺ said; O Sauda bint Zama! Screen yourself from this boy. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6086Narrated AlMarur: At AlRabadha I met Abu Dhar who was wearing a cloak; and his slave; too; was wearing a similar one. I asked about the reason for it. He replied; I abused a person by calling his mother with bad names. The Prophet said to me; O Abu Dhar! Did you abuse him by calling his mother with bad names You still have some characteristics of ignorance. Your slaves are your brothers and Allah has put them under your command. So whoever has a brother under his command should feed him of what he eats and dress him of what he wears. Had it not been for two verses in the Quran; I would not have narrated a single Hadith; and the verses are: Verily those who conceal the clear sign and the guidance which We have sent down... up to Most Merciful. 2:159-160. And no doubt our Muhajir emigrant brothers used to be busy in the market with their business bargains and our Ansari brothers used to be busy with their property agriculture. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6388Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Who is willing to kill Kaab Bin AlAshraf who has hurt Allah and His Apostle? Thereupon Muhammad Bin Maslama got up saying; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Would you like that I kill him? The Prophet ﷺ said; Yes; Muhammad Bin Maslama said; Then allow me to say a false thing i.e. to deceive Kaab. The Prophet ﷺ said; You may say it. Then Muhammad Bin Maslama went to Kaab and said; That man i.e. Muhammad demands Sadaqa i.e. Zakat from us; and he has troubled us; and I have come to borrow something from you. On that; Kaab said; By Allah; you will get tired of him! Muhammad Bin Maslama said; Now as we have followed him; we do not want to leave him unless and until we see how his end is going to be. Now we want you to lend us a camel load or two of food. Some difference between narrators about a camel load or two. Kaab said; Yes; I will lend you ; but you should mortgage something to me. Muhammad Bin Mas-lama and his companion said; What do you want? Kaab replied; Mortgage your women to me. They said; How can we mortgage our women to you and you are the most handsome of the Arabs? Kaab said; Then mortgage your sons to me. They said; How can we mortgage our sons to you? Later they would be abused by the people saying that so-and-so has been mortgaged for a camel load of food. That would cause us great disgrace; but we will mortgage our arms to you. Muhammad Bin Maslama and his companion promised Kaab that Muhammad would return to him. He came to Kaab at night along with Kaab foster brother; Abu Naila. Kaab invited them to come into his fort; and then he went down to them. His wife asked him; Where are you going at this time? Kaab replied; None but Muhammad Bin Maslama and my foster brother Abu Naila have come. His wife said; I hear a voice as if dropping blood is from him; Kaab said. They are none but my brother Muhammad Bin Maslama and my foster brother Abu Naila. A generous man should respond to a call at night even if invited to be killed. Muhammad Bin Maslama went with two men. Some narrators mention the men as Abu Bin Jabr. AlHarith Bin Aus and Abbad Bin Bishr. So Muhammad Bin Maslama went in together with two men; and sail to them; When Kaab comes; I will touch his hair and smell it; and when you see that I have got hold of his head; strip him. I will let you smell his head. Kaab Bin AlAshraf came down to them wrapped in his clothes; and diffusing perfume. Muhammad Bin Maslama said. have never smelt a better scent than this. Kaab replied. I have got the best Arab women who know how to use the high class of perfume. Muhammad Bin Maslama requested Kaab Will you allow me to smell your head? Kaab said; Yes. Muhammad smelt it and made his companions smell it as well. Then he requested Kaab again; Will you let me smell your head ? Kaab said; Yes. When Muhammad got a strong hold of him; he said to his companions ; Get at him! So they killed him and went to the Prophet ﷺ and informed him. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6439Narrated Anas: That the Prophet ﷺ sent his uncle; the brother of Um Sulaim at the head of seventy riders. The chief of the pagans; Amir Bin AlTufail proposed three suggestions to the Prophet ﷺ saying; Choose one of three alternatives: 1 that the bedouins will be under your command and the townspeople will be under my command; 2 or that I will be your successor; 3 or otherwise I will attack you with two thousand from Bani Ghatafan. But Amir was infected with plague in the House of Um so-and-so. He said; Shall I stay in the house of a lady from the family of so-and-so after having a swelled gland like that camel? Get me my horse. So he died on the back of his horse. Then Haram; the brother of Um Sulaim and a lame man along with another man from so-and-so tribe went towards the pagans i.e. the tribe of Amir. Haram said to his companions ; Stay near to me; for I will go to them. If they i.e. infidels should give me protection; you will be near to me; and if they should kill me; then you should go back to your companions. Then Haram went to them and said; Will you give me protection so as to convey the message of Allah Messenger ﷺ ? So; he started talking to them but they signalled to a man to kill him and he went behind him and stabbed him with a spear. He i.e. Haram said; Allahu Akbar! I have succeeded; by the Lord of the Kaba! The companion of Haram was pursued by the infidels; and then they i.e. Haram companions were all killed except the lame man who was at the top of a mountain. Then Allah revealed to us a verse that was among the cancelled ones later on. It was: We have met our Lord and He is pleased with us and has made us pleased. After this event the Prophet ﷺ invoked evil on the infidels every morning for 30 days. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6441Narrated Aisha: Abu Bakr asked the Prophet ﷺ to allow him to go out of Mecca when he was greatly annoyed by the infidels. But the Prophet ﷺ said to him; Wait. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Do you hope that you will be allowed to migrate ? Allah Messenger ﷺ replied; I hope so. So Abu Bakr waited for him till one day Allah Messenger ﷺ came at noon time and addressed him saying Let whoever is present with you; now leave you. Abu Bakr said; None is present but my two daughters. The Prophet ﷺ said; Have you noticed that I have been allowed to go out to migrate ? Abu Bakr said; O Allah Apostle; I would like to accompany you. The Prophet ﷺ said; You will accompany me. Abu Bakr said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have got two camels which I had prepared and kept ready for our going out. So he gave one of the two camels to the Prophet ﷺ and it was AlJada. They both rode and proceeded till they reached the Cave at the mountain of Thaur where they hid themselves. Amir Bin Fuhaira was the slave of Abdullah Bin AlTufail Bin Sakhbara Aisha brother from her mother side. Abu Bakr had a milch camel. Amir used to go with it i.e. the milch camel in the afternoon and come back to them before noon by setting out towards them in the early morning when it was still dark and then he would take it to the pasture so that none of the shepherds would be aware of his job. When the Prophet and Abu Bakr went away from the Cave ; he i.e. Amir too went along with them and they both used to make him ride at the back of their camels in turns till they reached Medina. Amir Bin Fuhaira was martyred on the day of Bir Mauna. Narrated Urwa: When those Muslims at Bir Mauna were martyred and Amr Bin Umaiya AlDamri was taken prisoner; Amir Bin AlTufail; pointing at a killed person; asked Amr; Who is this? Amr Bin Umaiya said to him; He is Amir Bin Fuhaira. Amir Bin AlTufail said; I saw him lifted to the sky after he was killed till I saw the sky between him and the earth; and then he was brought down upon the earth. Then the news of the killed Muslims reached the Prophet ﷺ and he announced the news of their death saying; Your companions of Bir Mauna have been killed; and they have asked their Lord saying; O our Lord! Inform our brothers about us as we are pleased with You and You are pleased with us. So Allah informed them i.e. the Prophet ﷺ and his companions about them i.e. martyrs of Bir Mauna. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6590Narrated AlBara: When the Prophet ﷺ went out for the Umra in the month of Dhal-Qada; the people of Mecca did not allow him to enter Mecca till he agreed to conclude a peace treaty with them by virtue of which he would stay in Mecca for three days only in the following year. When the agreement was being written; the Muslims wrote: This is the peace treaty; which Muhammad; Apostle of Allah has concluded. The infidels said to the Prophet ; We do not agree with you on this; for if we knew that you are Apostle of Allah we would not have prevented you for anything i.e. entering Mecca; etc. ; but you are Muhammad; the son of Abdullah. Then he said to Ali; Erase the name of Apostle of Allah. Ali said; No; by Allah; I will never erase you i.e. your name. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ took the writing sheet...and he did not know a better writing..and he wrote or got it the following written! This is the peace treaty which Muhammad; the son of Abdullah; has concluded: Muhammad should not bring arms into Mecca except sheathed swords; and should not take with him any person of the people of Mecca even if such a person wanted to follow him; and if any of his companions wants to stay in Mecca; he should not forbid him. In the next year when the Prophet ﷺ entered Mecca and the allowed period of stay elapsed; the infidels came to Ali and said Tell your companion Muhammad to go out; as the allowed period of his stay has finished. So the Prophet ﷺ departed from Mecca and the daughter of Hamza followed him shouting O Uncle; O Uncle! Ali took her by the hand and said to Fatima; Take the daughter of your uncle. So she made her ride on her horse. When they reached Medina Ali; Zaid and Jafar quarreled about her. Ali said; I took her for she is the daughter of my uncle. Jafar said; She is the daughter of my uncle and her aunt is my wife. Zaid said; She is the daughter of my brother. On that; the Prophet ﷺ gave her to her aunt and said; The aunt is of the same status as the mother. He then said to Ali; You are from me; and I am from you; and said to Jafar; You resemble me in appearance and character; and said to Zaid; You are our brother and our freed slave. Ali said to the Prophet Wont you marry the daughter of Hamza? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6640Narrated Aisha: Utba Bin Abi Waqqas authorized his brother Saad to take the son of the slave-girl of Zama into his custody. Utba said to him. He is my son. When Allah Messenger ﷺ arrived in Mecca during the Conquest of Mecca ; Saad Bin Abi Waqqas took the son of the slave-girl of Zama and took him to the Prophet ﷺ Abd Bin Zama too came along with him. Saad said. This is the son of my brother and the latter has informed me that he is his son. Abd Bin Zama said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! This is my brother who is the son of the slave-girl of Zama and was born on his i.e. Zamas bed. Allah Apostle looked at the son of the slave-girl of Zama and noticed that he; of all the people had the greatest resemblance to Utba Bin Abi Waqqas. Allah Messenger ﷺ then said to Abd ; He is yours; he is your brother; O Abd Bin Zama; he was born on the bed of your father. At the same time Allah Messenger ﷺ said to his wife Sauda ; Veil yourself before him i.e. the son of the slave-girl O Sauda; because of the resemblance he noticed between him and Utba Bin Abi Waqqas. Allah Apostle added; The boy is for the bed i.e. for the owner of the bed where he was born ; and stone is for the adulterer. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6642Narrated Majashi: I took my brother to the Prophet ﷺ after the Conquest of Mecca and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have come to you with my brother so that you may take a pledge of allegiance from him for migration. The Prophet ﷺ said; The people of migration i.e. those who migrated to Medina before the Conquest enjoyed the privileges of migration i.e. there is no need for migration anymore. I said to the Prophet; For what will you take his pledge of allegiance? SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6832Narrated Nafi: During the affliction of Ibn AlZubair; two men came to Ibn Umar and said; The people are lost; and you are the son of Umar; and the companion of the Prophet; so what forbids you from coming out? He said; What forbids me is that Allah has prohibited the shedding of my brother blood. They both said; Didnt Allah say; And fight then until there is no more affliction? He said We fought until there was no more affliction and the worship is for Allah Alone while you want to fight until there is affliction and until the worship become for other than Allah. Narrated Nafi through another group of sub-narrators : A man came to Ibn Umar and said; O Abu Abdulrahman What made you perform Hajj in one year and Umra in another year and leave the Jihad for Allah Cause though you know how much Allah recommends it? Ibn Umar replied; O son of my brother! Islam is founded on five principles; i.e. believe in Allah and His Apostle; the five compulsory prayers; the fasting of the month of Ramadan; the payment of Zakat; and the Hajj to the House of Allah. The man said; O Abu Abdulrahman Wont you listen to why Allah has mentioned in His Book: If two groups of believers fight each other; then make peace between them; but if one of then transgresses beyond bounds against the other; then you all fight against the one that transgresses. 49.9 and:-And fight them till there is no more affliction i.e. no more worshiping of others along with Allah. Ibn Umar said; We did it; during the lifetime of Allah Messenger ﷺ when Islam had only a few followers. A man would be put to trial because of his religion; he would either be killed or tortured. But when the Muslims increased; there was no more afflictions or oppressions. The man said; What is your opinion about Uthman and Ali? Ibn Umar said; As for Uthman; it seems that Allah has forgiven him; but you people dislike that he should be forgiven. And as for Ali; he is the cousin of Allah Messenger ﷺ and his son-in-law.
