SahihAlBukhari-017-001-024		Narrated Kuraib: I was sent to Aisha by Ibn Abbas; AlMiswar Bin Makhrama and Abdulrahman Bin Azhar. They told me to greet her on their behalf and to ask her about the offering of the two rakat after the Asr prayer and to say to her; We were informed that you offer those two rakat and we were told that the Prophet had forbidden offering them. Ibn Abbas said; I along with Umar Bin AlKhattab used to beat the people whenever they offered them. I went to Aisha and told her that message. Aisha said; Go and ask Umm Salamah about them. So I returned and informed them about her statement. They then told me to go to Umm Salamah with the same question with which t sent me to Aisha. Umm Salamah replied; I heard the Prophet ﷺ forbidding them. Later I saw him offering them immediately after he prayed the Asr prayer. He then entered my house at a time when some of the Ansari women from the tribe of Bani Haram were sitting with me; so I sent my slave girl to him having said to her; Stand beside him and tell him that Umm Salamah says to you; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! I have heard you forbidding the offering of these two rakat after the Asr prayer but I have seen you offering them. If he waves his hand then wait for him. The slave girl did that. The Prophet ﷺ beckoned her with his hand and she waited for him. When he had finished the prayer he said; O daughter of Bani Umaiya! You have asked me about the two rakat after the Asr prayer. The people of the tribe of Abd AlQais came to me and made me busy and I could not offer the two rakat after the Zuhr prayer. These two rakat that I have just prayed are for those missed ones. SahihAlBukhari-017-001-1164		Narrated Ibn Umar: Allah Messenger ﷺ said; Your stay in this world in comparison to the stay of the nations preceding you; is like the period between Asr prayer and the sun set in comparison to a whole day. SahihMuslim-017-001-23992		Kuraib; the freed slave of Ibn Abbas; reported that Abdullah Bin Abbas; Abdulrahman Bin Azhar; AlMiswar Bin Makhrama sent him to Aisha; the wife of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; telling him to give her their greetings; and ask her about the two rakahs after the afternoon prayer; for we have heard that you observe them whereas it has been conveyed to us that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited their observance. Ibn Abbas said: I along with Umar Bin AlKhattab dissuaded people to do so to observe two rakahs of prayer. Kuraib said: I went to her Aisha and conveyed to her the message with which I was sent. She said: Better ask Umm Salama. So I went to them those who had sent him to Hadrat Aisha and informed them about what she had said. They sent me back to Umm Salamah with that with which I was sent to Aisha. Umm Salamah said: I beard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting them; and then afterwards I saw him observing them. And when he observed them two rakahs he had already observed the Asr prayer. Then he the Holy Prophet came; while there were with me ladies of Banu Haram; a tribe of the Ansar and he the Holy Prophet observed them the two rakahs. I sent a slave-girl to him asking her to stand by his side and say to him that Umm Salamah says: Messenger of Allah; I heard you prohibiting these two rakahs; whereas I saw you observing them; and if he the Holy Prophet points with his hand to wait ; then do wait. The slave-girl did like that. He the Holy Prophet pointed out with his hand and she got Aasi de and waited; and when he had finished the prayer he said: Daughter of Abu Umaya. you have asked about the two rakahs after the Asr prayer. Some people of Abu AlQais came to me for embracing Islam and hindered me from observing the two rakahs which come after the noon prayer. So those are the two I have been praying. SahihMuslim-017-001-24005		Jabir reported: We fought In the company of the Messenger of Allah ﷺ with the tribe of Juhaina. They fought with us terribly. When we had finished the noon prayer; the polytheists said: Had we attacked them at once. we would have killed them. Gabriel informed the Messenger of Allah ﷺ about It about their evil design. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ made a mention of it to us; adding that they the polytheists had also said: Shortly there would be time for the Asr prayer. which is dearer o them the Muslims than even their children. So when the time of the Asr prayer came. we formed ourselves into two rows; while the polytheists were between us and the Qibla. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ said: Allah is Most Great; and we also said so. He bowed and we also bowed. He went down in prostration and the first row prostrated along with him. When they stood up; the second row went down in prostration. Then the first row went into the rear; and the second row came in the front and occupied the place of the first row. The Messenger of Allah ﷺ then said: Allah is Most Great; and we also said so. He then bowed; and we also bowed. He then went down in prostration and along with him the row also went down in prostration ; and the second row remained standing. And when the second row had also prostrated and all of them sat down then the Messenger of Allah ﷺ pronounced salutation to them. Abu AlZubair said: Jabir made a mention specially of this thing: just as your chiefs observe prayer. SahihMuslim-017-001-24417		AlBara Bin Azib reported: This verse was revealed in this way : Guard the prayers and the Asr prayer. We recited it in this very way so long as Allah desired. SunanAbuDawoud-017-001-24617		Narrated Kuraib; the client of Ibn Abbas: That Abdullah Bin Abbas; Abdulrahman Bin Azhar and AlMiswar Bin Makhramah sent him to Aisha; wife of the Prophet ﷺ. They said: Convey our regards to her from all of us and ask her about the two rakahs after the Asr prayer; and tell her that we have been informed that she prays them; and we are told that the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibited them. I entered upon her and told her that for which they had sent me to her. She said: Ask Umm Salamah. I returned to them Ibn Abbas and others and informed them about her opinion. They sent me back to Umm Salamah with the same mission for which they had sent me to Aishah. Umm Salamah said: I heard the Messenger of Allah ﷺ prohibiting them; but later on I saw him praying them. When he prayed them; he had offered the Asr prayer. He then came to me while a number of women from Banu Haram from the Ansar were sitting with me. He prayed these two rakahs. I sent a slave girl to him and I told her: Stand beside him and tell him that Umm Salamah has asked: Messenger of Allah ﷺ ; I heard you prohibiting these two rakahs after the afternoon prayer but I see you praying them yourself. If he makes a sign with his hand; step backward from him. The slave girl did so. When he finished prayer; he said: O daughter of Abu Umayah; you asked about the praying of two rakahs after the Asr prayer; in fact; some people of Abd AlQais has come to me with the news that their people had embraced Islam. They hindered me from praying the two rakahs after Zuhr prayer.
