Ibn Umar said We set out with Allah Messenger ﷺ and the non-believers of Quraish prevented us from reaching the Kaba; and so the Prophet ﷺ slaughtered his Hadi and got his head shaved. Ibn Umar added; I make you witnesses that I have made Umra obligatory for me. And; Allah willing; I will go and then if the way to Kaba is clear; I will perform the Tawaf; but if I am prevented from going to the Kaba then I will do the same as the Prophet ﷺ did while I was in his company. Ibn Umar then assumed Ihram for Umra from Dhu AlHulaifa and proceeded for a while and said; The conditions of Umra and Hajj are similar and I make you witnesses that I have made Umra and Hajj obligatory for myself. So; he did not finish the Ihram till the Day Of AlNahr slaughtering came; and he slaughtered his Hadi. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5580 | | Narrated Jabir Bin Abdullah: The Prophet ﷺ and his companions assumed Ihram for Hajj and none except the Prophet ﷺ and Talha had the Hadi with them. Ali had come from Yemen and he had the Hadi with him. He Ali said; I have assumed Ihram with an intention like that of Allah Messenger ﷺ has assumed it. The Prophet ﷺ ordered his companions to intend the Ihram with which they had come for Umra; to perform the Tawaf of the Kaba and between Safa and Marwa ; to get their hair cut short and then to finish their Ihram with the exception of those who had the Hadi with them. They asked; Shall we go to Mina and the private organs of some of us are dribbling if we finish Ihram and have sexual relations with our wives ? The Prophet heard that and said; Had I known what I know now; I would not have brought the Hadi. If I did not have the Hadi with me I would have finished my Ihram. Aisha got her menses and performed all the ceremonies of Hajj except the Tawaf. So when she became clean from her menses; and she had performed the Tawaf of the Kaba; she said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! You people are returning with both Hajj and Umra and I am returning only with Hajj! So; he ordered Abdulrahman Bin Abu Bakr to go with her to AlTanim. Thus she performed Umra after the Hajj in the month of Dhi AlHijja. Suraqa Bin Malik Bin Jusham met the Prophet ﷺ at AlAqaba Jamrat AlAqaba while the latter was stoning it and said; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! Is this permissible only for you? | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5585 | | Narrated Hisham Ibn Urwa from his father who said: While I was a youngster; I asked Aisha the wife of the Prophet. What about the meaning of the Statement of Allah; Verily! the mountains AlSafa and AlMarwa; are among the symbols of Allah. So; it is not harmful if those who perform Hajj or Umra of the House Kaba at Mecca to perform the going Tawaf between them? 2.158 I understand from that that there is no harm if somebody does not perform the Tawaf between them. Aisha replied; No; for if it were as you are saying; then the recitation would have been like this: It is not harmful not to perform Tawaf between them. This verse was revealed in connection with the Ansar who used to assume the Ihram for the idol Manat which was put beside a place called Qudaid and those people thought it not right to perform the Tawaf of AlSafa and AlMarwa. When Islam came; they asked Allah Messenger ﷺ about that; and Allah revealed:- Verily! the mountains AlSafa and AlMarwa Are among the symbols of Allah. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-5682 | | Narrated Abdullah Bin Abbas: The Prophet ﷺ with his companions started from Medina after combing and oiling his hair and putting on two sheets of lhram upper body cover and waist cover. He did not forbid anyone to wear any kind of sheets except the ones colored with saffron because they may leave the scent on the skin. And so in the early morning; the Prophet ﷺ mounted his Mount while in Dhu AlHulaifa and set out till they reached Baida; where he and his companions recited Talbiya; and then they did the ceremony of Taqlid which means to put the colored garlands around the necks of the Budn camels for sacrifice. And all that happened on the 25th of Dh AlQada. And when he reached Mecca on the 4th of Dhu AlHijja he performed the Tawaf round the Kaba and performed the Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. And as he had a Badana and had garlanded it; he did not finish his Ihram. He proceeded towards the highest places of Mecca near AlHujun and he was assuming the Ihram for Hajj and did not go near the Kaba after he performed Tawaf round it till he returned from Arafat. Then he ordered his companions to perform the Tawaf round the Kaba and then the Tawaf of Safa and Marwa; and to cut short the hair of their heads and to finish their Ihram. So the people who had not driven the Hadi along with them finished their Ihram. The Prophet wives; too; had not driven the Hadi with them; so they too; finished their Ihram. Now here is Ibn Umar present amongst the people! They neither ask him nor anyone of the previous ones. And all these people; on entering Mecca; would not start with anything unless they had performed Tawaf of the Kaba; and would not finish their Ihram. And no doubt; I saw my mother and my aunt; on entering Mecca doing nothing before performing Tawaf of the Kaba; and they would not finish their lhram. Aisha added; Surely; Allah Apostle set the tradition of Tawaf between Safa and Marwa; so nobody is allowed to omit the Tawaf between them. Later on I Urwa told Abu Bakr Bin Abdulrahman of Aisha narration and he said; I have not heard of such information; but I heard learned men saying that all the people; except those whom Aisha mentioned and who used to assume lhram for the sake of Manat; used to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa. When Allah referred to the Tawaf of the Kaba and did not mention Safa and Marwa in the Quran; the people asked; O Allah Messenger ﷺ ! We used to perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa and Allah has revealed the verses concerning Tawaf of the Kaba and has not mentioned Safa and Marwa. Is there any harm if we perform Tawaf between Safa and Marwa? So Allah revealed: Verily AlSafa and AlMarwa are among the symbols of Allah. The Prophet ﷺ ordered his companions to perform the Umra with the lhram which they had assumed; and after finishing Tawaf of Kaba; Safa and Marwa to cut short their hair; and to finish their lhram except those who had Hadi with them. They the people said; How can we proceed to Mina for Hajj after having sexual relations with our wives? Allah Messenger ﷺ started by assuming Ihram for Umra and Hajj. And the people; too; performed the Umra and Hajj along with the Prophet. Some of them brought the Hadi and drove it along with them; while the others did not. So; when the Prophet ﷺ arrived at Mecca. he said to the people; Whoever among you has driven the Hadi; should not finish his Ihram till he completes his Hajj. And whoever among you has not driven the Hadi with him; should perform Tawaf of the Kaba and the Tawaf between Safa and Marwa; then cut short his hair and finish his Ihram; and should later assume Ihram for Hajj; but he must offer a Hadi sacrifice ; and if anyone cannot afford a Hadi; he should fast for three days during the Hajj and seven days when he returns home. The Prophet ﷺ performed Tawaf of the Kaba on his arrival at Mecca ; he touched the Black Stone corner first of all and then did Ramal fast walking with moving of the shoulders during the first three rounds round the Kaba; and during the last four rounds he walked. After finishing Tawaf of the Kaba; he offered a two rakat prayer at Maqam Ibrahim; and after finishing the prayer he went to Safa and Marwa and performed seven rounds of Tawaf between them and did not do any deed forbidden because of Ihram; till he finished all the ceremonies of his Hajj and sacrificed his Hadi on the Day Of AlNahr 10th day of Dhu AlHijja. He offered his prayers facing Bait AlMaqdis Jerusalem for sixteen or seventeen months; but he wished that he could pray facing the Kaba at Mecca. The first prayer which he offered facing the Kaba was the Asr prayer in the company of some people. Then one of those who had offered that prayer with him came out and passed by some people in a Masjid who were bowing during their prayers facing Jerusalem. He said addressing them; By Allah; I testify that I have prayed with Allah Messenger ﷺ facing Mecca Kaba. Hearing that; those people changed their direction towards the Kaba immediately. Jews and the people of the scriptures used to be pleased to see the Prophet ﷺ facing Jerusalem in prayers but when he changed his direction towards the Kaba; during the prayers; they disapproved of it. AlBara added; Before we changed our direction towards the Kaba Mecca in prayers; some Muslims had died or had been killed and we did not know what to say about them regarding their prayers. | SahihAlBukhari-017-001-6618 | | Narrated Hisham father: When Allah Messenger ﷺ set out towards Mecca during the year of the Conquest of Mecca and this news reached the infidels of Quraish ; Abu Sufyan; Hakim Bin Hizam and Budail Bin Warqa came out to gather information about Allah Messenger ﷺ ; They proceeded on their way till they reached a place called Marr AlZahran which is near Mecca. Behold! There they saw many fires as if they were the fires of Arafat. Abu Sufyan said; What is this? It looked like the fires of Arafat. Budail Bin Warqa said; Banu Amr are less in number than that. Some of the guards of Allah Messenger ﷺ saw them and took them over; caught them and brought them to Allah Messenger ﷺ. Abu Sufyan embraced Islam. When the Prophet ﷺ proceeded; he said to AlAbbas; Keep Abu Sufyan standing at the top of the mountain so that he would look at the Muslims. So AlAbbas kept him standing at that place and the tribes with the Prophet ﷺ started passing in front of Abu Sufyan in military batches. A batch passed and Abu Sufyan said; O Abbas Who are these? Abbas said; They are Banu Ghifar. Abu Sufyan said; I have got nothing to do with Ghifar. Then a batch of the tribe of Juhaina passed by and he said similarly as above. Then a batch of the tribe of Saad Bin Huzaim passed by and he said similarly as above. then Banu Sulaim passed by and he said similarly as above. Then came a batch; the like of which Abu Sufyan had not seen. He said; Who are these? Abbas said; They are the Ansar headed by Saad Bin Ubada; the one holding the flag. Saad Bin Ubada said; O Abu Sufyan! Today is the day of a great battle and today what is prohibited in the Kaba will be permissible. Abu Sufyan said.; O Abbas! How excellent the day of destruction is! Then came another batch of warriors which was the smallest of all the batches; and in it there was Allah Messenger ﷺ and his companions and the flag of the Prophet ﷺ was carried by AlZubair Bin AlAwam. When Allah Messenger ﷺ passed by Abu Sufyan; the latter said; to the Prophet ; Do you know what Saad Bin Ubada said? The Prophet ﷺ said; What did he say? Abu Sufyan said; He said so-and-so. The Prophet ﷺ said; Saad told a lie; but today Allah will give superiority to the Kaba and today the Kaba will be covered with a cloth covering. Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered that his flag be fixed at AlHajun. Narrated Urwa: Nafi Bin Jubair Bin Mutim said; I heard AlAbbas saying to AlZubair Bin AlAwam; O Abu Abdullah ! Did Allah Messenger ﷺ order you to fix the flag here? Allah Messenger ﷺ ordered Khalid Bin AlWalid to enter Mecca from its upper part from Kada while the Prophet ﷺ himself entered from Kuda. When he made his camel kneel down in the Masjid i.e.; AlMasjid AlHaram ; he ordered him i.e.; Uthman to bring the key of the Kabah. Then Allah Messenger ﷺ entered the Kabah along with Usma Bin Zaid; Bill and Uthmn Bin Talha ; and he stayed in it for a long period and then came out. The people rushed to get in and Abdullh Bin Umar was the first to enter and he found Bill standing behind the door. Ibn Umar asked Bill; Where did Allah Messenger ﷺ offer the Prayer prayer ? The people rushed to get in; but I went in before them and found Bilal standing behind the gate; and I said to him; Where did the Prophet ﷺ pray? He said; He prayed between those two front pillars. The Kaba was built on six pillars; arranged in two rows; and he prayed between the two pillars of the front row leaving the gate of the Kaba at his back and facing in prayer the wall which faces one when one enters the Kaba. Between him and that wall was the distance of about three cubits. But I forgot to ask Bilal about the number of rakat the Prophet ﷺ had prayed.
